The New home of
Our Story
Tumblesalt Place is located in the heart of Centerdale, one of North Providence’s oldest village centers. Centerdale developed in the early 19th century as a mill village along the Woonasquatucket River, with textile operations, worker housing, and small shops clustered around Mineral Spring Avenue.
By the late 1800s and early 1900s, the corners of Mineral Spring Avenue and Morgan Avenue were filled with Victorian-era residences and small storefronts, including the buildings at 2209 Mineral Spring (c.1900) and 1 Morgan Avenue (1926), where Tumblesalt Place is located today.
Originally, the buildings were mill homes, a gas station and repair garage. Later, one of the structures was used as an ice house.
In 2012, Kristine Teto and Brad Aubin, acquired the properties and decided to take on the challenge of creating something unique.
Kristine and Brad, with design backgrounds, reimagined the interiors of each building, down to every last detail. Further, Brad, with his construction background, executed all of the renovations and created a layout linking the detached buildings together.
The couple originally launched a retail boutique and cafe concept on the property. Four years later, they rethought their plan and opened a group of restaurants that would bring new life to the historic corner.
Today, the concept is once again reimagined as Tumblesalt Place, where you’ll find Nicholena’s Pizza & Kitchen (that feature Kristine’s grandmother’s recipes), Tumblesalts and The Acorn Room.

After nearly 10 incredible years, we’re thrilled to turn the page and begin a new chapter, and renaming our complex to Tumblesalt Place. And now, you have a choice of exciting destinations inside the unique complex: the new Nicholena’s Pizza & Kitchen, Tumblesalts, and The Acorn Room. Whatever your mood, whatever you’re looking for, there is something for everyone to enjoy! Behind the scenes, we’ve put in a lot of work, renamed and rebranded our entities, refreshed our look and menus to match our vibrant vibe. The best is yet to come, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Nicholena’s Pizza & Kitchen
Nicholena’s Pizza & Kitchen is the new destination to experience some of Rhode Island’s best pizza, salads, panini’s, sandwiches and more! We use Nicholena’s old-world recipes, and our traditional coal based oven for unmatched flavors that will keep you coming back for more.
The Acorn Lounge & The Top Hat Room
The Acorn Lounge offers a refined tapas menu in an elegant setting where you can savor a delicious meal or sip on a crafted martini. Whether you’re dining on the first floor in the Acorn Room, which offers a full bar and extensive tapas menu or hosting an event in The Top Hat Room upstairs, this incredible, beautiful space provides a warm, welcoming atmosphere for any occasion.
